Castile Soap is a vegetable oil soap, free of animal fats and synthetic ingredients. This natural, non-toxic, biodegradable soap is available in Liquid form, and is a fantastic base soap to create a wide range of cleaning products.

Castile Soap is a versatile vegetable-based soap that is made from olive oil. Originating from the Castile region of Spain.

Popular in zero waste and eco-friendly circles both for it’s versatility and because it does not contain animal fats it is cruelty free. Also as it is made from all natural ingredients it is completely biodegradable.

Like most soaps and cleaners Castile Soap is alkaline (with a PH around 8.9) making it an effective cleaner compared to standard soaps yet still less severe than bleach.  For this reason it is a fantastic multi purpose soap!

However be careful not to mix it with anything acidic such as vinegar or citrus juice as the acid will cancel out the Alkaline that is present in the castile soap.

A fantastic multi-purpose product our castile soap base can be used in many ways. Add a few drops of essential oil to make a customised scented body wash and/or hand wash. Also mixing it with coconut oil will make a moisturising shaving balm! If you are after a moisturising make up remover, mix equal parts castile soap, coconut oil or sweet almond oil, and witch hazel for a homemade zero waste option.

To make a general purpose zero waste all-purpose cleaner from our castile soap base, mix ¼ cup of castile soap to 2 cups of water (a few drops of essential oil too if you like) and you will have a cleaning solution that can be used from the kitchen to the bathroom.

It also makes a brilliant affordable pet shampoo!
